We love to celebrate milestones. We celebrate our Silver and Golden Wedding anniversaries. We celebrate birthdays. We celebrate great achievements. August 20, 2017, we will be celebrating all the above. Timber Ridge Baptist Church will be 175 years old! In August 1842, some families got together and decided to start a church to share the gospel message with the people in that area. They built a log cabin that was only 12 foot square with one door and no windows. That served for many years until they moved to the old Barnhardt school (location is uncertain), and in 1873 built their second meeting house at the sight of the old Timber Ridge. In 1920, they tore down their church and built the one standing at the cemetery now. We were there until 2014. Skyrocketing growth and deterioration of the old building told us we needed to move. We purchased 10 acres of land from Edna Shafer and built the present building there.
For 175 years, Timber Ridge has served Christ and the people of this community. God has brought His life changing grace and comfort to the people through personal tragedies, deaths, wars, disease, and disasters. We are excited to celebrate this event with all who come. But we also look forward to the future, of being God’s vessel of grace, mercy, and life changing power to the people of our community.
