Forgiveness When It Hurts

How often has someone gone to the doctor to get a diagnosis of what is ailing them only to be surprised that it is serious, life-threatening, but with a simple treatment?  Our home lives, marriages, work relationships all suffer because of our sinful nature.  We are, by nature, self-serving.  It tears at our most intimate relationships and creates with us, a deep sense of unrest and loneliness, even from God.

The Great Physician says to forgive those who have hurt you.  This sounds unrelated to the problem, but it is the right treatment for this disease that will destroy your life.  Who has offended you? That is only one question that needs to be answered.  The next question is “whom have you offended?” The obvious question that follows is “how do I forgive them, and how do I seek to be forgiven?”

The whole point of Jesus coming to earth is to bring us forgiveness of our sin and to give us His righteousness.  He seeks us to have a relationship with us, and that means that He must forgive us.  He paid the price and offers us the gift.

Will you do the same for those who have offended you?  It is the Christ-like thing to do.  Sunday morning, I will preach on this topic because it is the Christians *1 need.  See you Sunday at 9:45 for Bible Study and 11:00 for worship.
